To Treat Beauty As An Entity

Beauty not as a trait. As something aware. Something that notices how you look at it. Less about what beauty is. More about how you approach it. If it’s conscious, it’s watching you too.

I keep coming back to this.

Beauty as an entity. Not a trait. Not decoration. Not an addition.

Beauty appears in a way that feels more than human, less than God. It wants relationship not reverence.

An entity is a conscious being. A presence with will. Its own mood. It walks into the room before you do and lingers after you’ve left. Beauty sits omniscient while taking your breath.

If beauty is an entity it is aware. Aware of how we approach it. Where our eyes fixate. Where our minds wonder.

A song knows it is being played as background music, it shrinks. Entity react.

We pay attention and it opens up. Beauty, the entity responds to recognition.

Desperation scares the entity.

I know because I have been desperate with her. I failed to control it. I tried too hastily to understand it. Beauty has been generous towards me, though my chaotic mood towards it and trying to figure it out.

But an entity abhorrers being figured out. An entity wants to be accepted.

When we treat beauty as an entity we admit that it chooses where it inhabits. It chooses.

When we let beauty choose we let go our our claims to it. We stop extracting it and we begin encountering the entity.

Beauty is a conscious being therefore it responds to attention, reacting to the way it’s looked at.

Beauty is alive. It has moods. It may drawback from you.

Entities have habitats, their preferred living spaces. A rose is living not performing.

Beauty lives In restraint and timing.

When you treat beauty as an entity you stop chasing it. You begin relating to it.

Relationship.

When beauty is an entity It looks back at you and asks for presence, openness and accecptance.

That day you walked into the bookstore knowing exactly what you wanted. Swiped through the books like content. Found the one you came for. Transaction complete.

That day you walked in and greeted beauty by running your fingers along the spines and pages.

Ir breathed.

It met your greeting.

That is the difference between consuming and encountering.

Beauty, like all entities cannot be owned. Cannot perform on force. You invite it, create conditions where it feels welcome.

Then we gain intimacy. When you treat beauty not as a spectacle but as a conscious being, something changes. You are no longer scanning but are listening. We gain intimacy.

Not trying to take but trying to understand what mood beauty is in today.

That builds trust with beauty.

And when beauty trusts you, it reveals itself more.

Beauty appears more than human less than God. It asks for reverence without worship. Relationship.

To treat beauty as an entity is to enter into relationship with it. To stop extracting and start encountering. Beauty is not spectacle.
